Meet A.R.C.I. Tectra

A new kind of creative character is taking shape in my studio—someone who’s part teacher, part explorer, and part design mentor. Introducing A.R.C.I. Tectra: a futuristic, hands-on guide for curious kids who love to imagine, sketch, and build.

🧠 Introducing A.R.C.I. Tectra — A Design-Driven Character Inspiring Curiosity and Creativity

Still in development, A.R.C.I. (short for Architectural Resourceful Creative Intelligence) is more than just a character; she’s a teaching tool, a spark for creative thinking, and a friendly face designed to bridge the gap between STEM and the arts, between architecture and imagination.

👩‍💻 Who is A.R.C.I.?

A.R.C.I. Tectra is a humanoid character designed to encourage curiosity, creativity, and confidence in young learners—especially those drawn to design, problem-solving, and visual thinking. She blends a futuristic aesthetic with a down-to-earth personality, making abstract concepts feel approachable and fun.

Her visual identity is intentional and consistent. A.R.C.I. has pale teal skin, chosen not only to support her futuristic design but also to remain inclusive—avoiding associations with any specific real-world race or ethnicity so that kids of all backgrounds can imagine themselves in her world.

She features a stylized angular bob haircut with a bold purple-to-orange ombré, and wears a navy blazer with cargo style pockets and geometric detailing; typically paired with ankle length pants and ballet flats or loafers. Her right arm is robotic, visually distinct in color and shape from her human left arm, symbolizing the blend of analog creativity and digital tools. This visible difference reflects the diverse ways people interact with their environments and offers quiet representation for children of varied abilities.

A.R.C.I. also has a small Doric column tattoo on the outer right ankle, a nod to the architectural heritage that grounds her mission to build, teach, and imagine. Her creator, Whitney Ford has the same tattoo! She’s often shown carrying a tablet or sketchbook, depending on the setting—studio,u field site, or learning space—and sometimes wears gold geometric earrings when both ears are visible. On construction sites she is always careful about safety wearing practical jeans, safety vest, collar shirt, and boots with and hard hat.

She is drawn in a clean, modern cartoon style—geometric, expressive manner. You’ll begin seeing her across a variety of educational and creative materials in the coming months. Please be patient as work on her and the materials is during sporadic free time opportunities; this isn’t my day job.
